COVID UPDATE: County sets record for active cases

Milam County COVID update from Judge Steve Young for Dec. 3, 2020:

We now have 93 active cases in Milam County. This is ten more than our previous record high of 83. 

Today we have 11 new PCR cases and eight new probable cases to report. Nine cases were discharged, including six PCR cases and three probable cases. Twenty-two individuals were tested in Thorndale with seven positive results.  Two individuals were admitted to local hospitals.

Over the last 14 days of testing, we have tested 490 individuals with 126 positive results, which is a 25.7% positivity rate.

Below is our current virus tally for Milam County.  Note that the Milam County Health Department has quarantined and/or monitored 2,550 individuals in the County since the pandemic started. This is roughly 10 percent of the population of the County and a huge task for the Health Department. Our thanks to the Health Department for an outstanding job.

  6. Currently monitored individuals 156 – down 11
    1. Cumulative monitored individuals – 1,593
  7. Hospitalizations 4 – up 2
  8. Deaths 9 – no change
