County will see several opposed races in March

Several candidates have filed to run in the March primaries in Milam County.

According to Milam County GOP Chairman Bill Whitmire there will be several contested races across the county on the Republican side. There were no reports of filings from the Democrats as of press time.

Incumbent John Youngblood filed for 20th District Court Judge

There will be a race for Milam County District Attorney as incumbent Bill Torrey will face current Cameron Police Chief Lonnie Gosch.

In the race for Milam County Sheriff current Sheriff Chris White will face Craig Wise.

Milam County Tax Assessor/Collector Sherry Mueck is unopposed.

In the race for Milam County Commissioner, Precinct 1, incumbent Richard “Opey” Watkins will face two opponents in Henry Hubnik and Ricky McCall

Former County Judge Frank Summers and Charles Truitt will face off for Milam County Commissioner, Precinct 3, as Commissioner John Fisher will retire after this term.

Incumbent Jay Beathard has filed to run for Constable, Precinct 3, again, and Michael Moehling will run for Constable, Precinct 4, again.
