County offices gearing up for move to new Annex complex
Milam County offices are beginning to pack up for the move to the new Milam County Annex.
Tax Office
County Tax Assessor Sherry Mueck has announced that the Milam County Tax Office will be closed this month to begin their move.
The Rockdale Tax Office substation re-opened to the public and will resume previous hours of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m.
The Cameron Tax Office will close to the public beginning 1 p.m. on July 12 to prepare for their move into the new Milam County Annex and will re-open in the Annex on July 18.
The mailing address will remain the same and there will be a drop box installed at the Annex. The Rockdale substation will remain open to the public during this move.
As a reminder, the Tax Office is currently under a four-day work week summer schedule from Monday through Thursday until Aug. 5.
AgriLife Extension
A moving date has been set for Texas A&M Agrilife Extension office in Milam County. In preparation for the move and to unpack and settle in, the extension office will be closing their offices Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 22.
During these weeks of transition, the office will have interruption of phone services, email access, and mail delivery. There are no scheduled programs for those weeks. Please be patient through this process and come see us at our new location in August.
The new address is 806 N. Crockett, Suite B, in Cameron. Phone lines should be the same, (254) 605-0226 should be a direct line to them, but (254) 697-7045 may still go through.
Grand opening
A grand opening is planned for July 21 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Annex. Everyone is invited. Several dignitaries will attend and tours will be available.
A wall plaque will be unveiled and the building will be officially designated as the Milam County Annex.
The new facility will provide one stop shopping for County services, including the Tax Assessor/Collector’s office; the County Clerk’s office; the District Attorney’s office; Adult Probation; Juvenile Probation; Workforce Solutions; County Emergency Services; the County Auditor; the County Treasurer; Agri-Life Extension; and Bea’s Kitchen.
