County’s COVID-19 count up to 16

Milam County’s COVID-19 count is up to 16 as three cases were added this week.

Milam County Judge Steve Young said that on Wednesday, April 29, at around 11 a.m. a younger Milam County resident, who was tested at an out of county mobile site, tested positive for the virus.

The person is not going to be hospitalized, but will self-quarantine.  The person was tested April 24 and results were returned today.

Late Monday evening, April 27, Milam County officials got a report from a local provider of a Milam County resident who tested positive for the virus. The person is now home and self-isolating.

The 14th case, which was announced Monday morning, was hospitalized but was possibly to be released on Tuesday, April 28. This was a man with underlying health conditions.

“We now have 15 cases in the county,” Young said. “Three in the hospital, one death and the rest have recovered or are in self-quarantine. The Milam County Health Department is monitoring 11 individuals who had contact with the infected individuals.”

Young reminds people to please wear a mask if you are out in public.

“From the beginning it has been our goal to do what is in the best interest for the health of our residents,” Young said. “The only thing we can do is help ourselves.”
