Community comes together to kick off holiday season

The Cameron Christmas Festival and Parade was a huge success, thanks to the partnership of the Cameron Chamber of Commerce, City of Cameron, Cameron Industrial Foundation, Cameron Economic Development Corp. and local downtown businesses. These entities combined talents and brought lights, festivities, and a great parade to our great city!

Our city was challenged by an anonymous donor and the challenge was accepted and met!  Thank you to everyone who donated to “Lighting up the Downtown.”

We all greatly appreciate everyone who made this possible, and the list is enormous this year, and what a blessing!  The parade was only the beginning to “Christmas in Cameron.”  Watch for other events that are planned for the month of December.

A special thank you to Jorge Fuentes of Jorgito Media, who created a heartfelt video of the parade, capturing the energy, love, and passion of the people of our great city. I don’t know of too many people who were not either in tears, or blown away by the love felt from that video. The energy of the night was captured through the eyes of a local young man who gave back to his community.  He did this from his heart, he wasn’t asked or paid to do this, it was a work of love, and we thank you! You captured our vision on the video, it was perfect!

Thank you, to all the vendors who showed up and made the night a festive event! You rocked the evening and made it a success.

And, as always, thank you to the people of Cameron and Milam County, who continue to support our festivals and events.  Your love of Cameron is what we all feed on, so we can make Cameron the greatest place to live and raise a family, with family values and community support.  You all are our support network, and we appreciate you all!

I shared the video with some people from out of town and they all want to come to Cameron’s parade next year! They said it was the ‘real spirit of Christmas’ and got them in the mood for Christmas!  2023 Festival and Parade Committee get ready!

If you haven’t viewed video, please go to Cameron, Texas Chamber of Commerce Facebook page and watch the magic as Cameron comes alive and embraces the energy, the lights, and all the hard work of  those who entered the parade and created such amazing entries. Lots of love and passion in those floats and entries, from Nutcrackers to Volcanoes exploding!

This week, the Cameron Chamber of Commerce will host it’s 24th Annual Christmas Basketball Classic on Dec. 8, 9 and 10. All games at the Yoe High School Main and Back Gym begin at 9 a.m. all three days!  Check out the website www.christmasincameron.com for the Game Schedule.

Next, the Christmas Committee created two other events to bring people to Cameron to Shop and enjoy our city.  Dec. 15, is a Holiday Sip and Shop and Dec. 20 is S’more Holidays in Cameron!  Please view the information on our website www.christmasincameron.com or www.cameron-tx.com or our Cameron, Texas Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

Thank you, to our parade sponsors, Haber Wealth Management, Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hearn Engineering.

Special thank you to the Christmas Committee that worked so hard and diligently with me to make all this possible, Ginger Watkins, Micah Holcombe, Melanie Romine, Spring Janke, Franci Denio, Casey Cargle, and Gary Fuchs. Also, the City of Cameron Street Department headed by Craig Arnold, couldn’t have done it without you guys. The committees visions are only beginning to come to come true!  The seed was planted, and we want it to continue to grow!
