Commissioners vote to stagger ESD board

Milam County Commissioners voted to stagger terms on the Emergency Services District Board during a meeting on Monday.

Commissioners voted unanimously to stagger the board member terms on the newly created ESD Board of Directors.

Terms for Stephen Hanel of Cameron and Mike Reed of Gause were set at two years and term lengths for Kain Dodd of Milano, Rebecca Gerren of Rockdale, and Kimberly Knapek of Thorndale were each set at one year.

The Court made that decision after an executive session to discuss the matter.

The ESD, which won voter approval last November, will be overseen by this Board to help shore up ambulance services here in the county.

During the meeting County Judge Bill Whitmire said that the Professional Building renovations should be finished for a March move-in.

Commissioners have a special meeting today, Jan. 11. During that special meeting, the Commissioners will discuss economic development incentives and current tax abatement benefits. The meeting is at 11 a.m. at the Rockdale Municipal Development District Office in Rockdale.
