Commissioners certify burn ban

Milam County Commissioners certified a ban on outdoor burning during a meeting on Monday.

Milam County Judge Bill Whitmire had already placed the burn ban last week, but the commissioners certified the 90-day ban during the meeting.

Commissioners also heard from residents of County Road 204 about the condition of their road.

Residents spoke to the court during public participation, mostly related to CR 204 road issues. About eight residents had concerns about truck traffic tearing up the road and creating a dangerous environment. They also had complaints about the condition of the road and pot holes.

In other business commissioners also: again tabled providing funding that would keep the HOP transit service running here; tabled an amendment to the Permit Application for County Road Entrances; tabled a contract with TEEX to get county personnel CDL qualified; approved providing $1,750 to Hill Country Community Action for their home delivered meal grant; approved road use agreements on two solar projects; and approved three proposed opioid settlements.
