Commissioners approve several items

Milam County Commissioners approved several measures during a meeting on Monday including a raise for election workers.

County Clerk Jodi Morgan requested the pay rate for election judges and clerks be raised to $14 per hour and the court approved the request.

County Judge Bill Whitmire updated commissioners on the progress at the professional building saying walk throughs will be done in a week or two and county offices should be able to move in in March. The Milam County Health Department, WIC and the County Extension Office will be housed in the renovated building.

Commissioners also gave their OK for TxDOT to use FM 845 in the unincorporated area of the county as a detour during repairs to US 190 west of Cameron. The City of Cameron will also have to approved the request.

In other business commissioners also heard presentations from Holly Jentsch with the Milam County Historical Commission, WIC Director Jennifer Ranspot, and Health Department Director Robert Kirkpatrick along with other items.
