Race set for At Large spot on Cameron City Council

Cameron residents will have contested race to decide come May for City Council.

Lekethia “KeKe” Sims filed to run for the At Large Councilmember post on Friday. She will face incumbent At Large Councilmember Cliff Cryer in May.

Others who have filed include Maurice Goza for Ward 1, Kyle Deal for Ward 3, and Barbara Dominguez for Ward 5. They are all  unopposed. 

Cameron ISD announced incumbents Roy Martinez and James Burks both filed and will run unopposed.

In Rockdale, incumbent Rockdale ISD trustees Julia Cardona (Place 7) and Janice Keen (Place 6) have filed to run again. 

Thorndale will have a contested race for Mayor with incumbent George Galbreath Jr. challenged by former Mayor and current Councilman George Niemtschk. 

Jared Melde filed for re-election there and Michael Becker has also filed. 

Election Day will be Saturday, May 6. Early Voting runs April 24 through May 2.
