Filing continues for city council, school board

Several seats will be open on Cameron City Council and CISD School Board for the May election.

Filing began Jan. 17 and will run through Feb. 16 for both.

Two have filed for the Cameron ISD School Board.

Incumbent Annisha Williams and John Anderle have filed to run in the May election for three at-large positions in the CISD Board.

Incumbent board members in those positions are Franci Denio, Annisha Williams and Michael McAnulty.

The Cameron City Council places up for election will be Ward 2, Ward 4 and Mayor. Ward 2 is currently held by Nathan Fuchs and Ward 4 is currently held by Jimmy Pratt.

Fuchs has filed to run for mayor as incumbent Bill Harris will not seek re-election.

There will also be a special election to fill Ward 1 after Maurice Goza vacated the offie late in 2023 after moving out of the jurisdiction. There is currently no one serving in that position.

You can file for City Council at City Hall, 100 S. Houston in Cameron from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can file for CISD School Board Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the CISD Administration Building 304 East 12th Street in Cameron.
