County voters approve ESD

Milam County voters approved the creation of an Emergency Services District on Tuesday.

Milam County voters voted in favor of the creation of an Emergency Services District by a 2,297-1,064 margin.

This is just the first step in the creation of the ESD. Check next week’s paper for details on what this means.

County voters also sided with the rest of the state on 14 amendments to the constitution.

Texas saw 13 of the 14 amendments pass, mostly by wide margins. The only amendment to fail was #13, which would have extended the age of judge before they are mandated to retire.

The Milam County Elections Department said 3,487 people cast a ballot overall, with 1,650 of those during early voting.
