CAST FOR MCT’S MAIN STAGE SHOW “HARVEY” IS SET

The cast for the next Milam Community Theater main stage production of the beloved comedy, “Harvey,” has been set.

Director Richard Stone said he was thrilled by the response at auditions and is excited by the potential of the company.

“I’ve worked with many of these actors before,” he said. “Those I haven’t worked with, I’ve seen on stage. This is going to be a lot of fun and very funny!”

Seth Tyson, who has had a string of recent stage appearances, was cast in the role of Elwood P. Dowd. Dowd is an eccentric who, throughout the show, introduces his friends and family — and anyone else who will stand still for a moment — to Harvey, a 6-foot tall invisible rabbit.

Theater veteran Kelita Thomas was cast as Dowd’s sister, Veta, and Breanna Ameigh as Veta’s daughter, Myrtle.

Kalib Teetz will play Dr. Sanderson with Savana Everett playing Nurse Kelly.

Returning after a long absence from the MCT stage to play Dr. Crumley is Maurice Goza. Crumley’s wife, Betty, will be played by Susan Angely.

Randy Tyson is another actor returning to the stage following a long absence. He was cast in the role of Judge Gafney.

Jeff Teetz, who has been around community theater for a long time — largely helping with set construction and dealing with technical issues, but never on stage, was tapped to play Wilson, the orderly, and Chris Wilson will take the role of Mrs. Chauvenet.

“If you’ve been to an MCT show in recent years, many of these actors will be familiar,” said Stone. “Others, like Maurice and Randy, have been away for a long time. I think Maurice’s most recent show was “Noises Off.” Randy’s most recent appearance was as Bob Cratchit in “Scrooge and Marley.”

Rehearsals will begin the first week of January. The show, which will be the first production of the theater’s 30th season, will be in production the last Saturday and Sunday in February, and the first Saturday and Sunday in March.

While individual tickets for the show are not yet available, season memberships — which includes tickets to all shows and the annual member-only Gala — are on sale under the “box office” tab at the theater’s website, MilamCommunityTheater.com.
