Blessings From God Food pantry

The distribution dates for the Blessings From God Food Pantry are: June 8 and 22 from 8-9:30 a.m.; July 6 and 20 from 8-9:30 a.m.; August 10 and 24 from 8-9:30 a.m.; Sept. 7 and 21 from 8-9:30 a.m.; Oct. 5 and 19 from 8-9:30 a.m.; Nov. 9 and 23 from 8-9:30 a.m.; Dec. 7 and 21 from 8-9:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 1300 N. Austin in Cameron. They are still accepting donations, please call Franklin Glaser at (254) 455-0380 to donate. Mobile pantry will be at The Yards of Cameron every third Wednesday of the month. 

 

Bea’s Kitchen Meals

Bea’s Kitchen is still giving out frozen meals every other Thursday. If you would like to receive meals, please call (254) 697-2243 as the number has changed.

 

FREE TIRE CLEAN UP

Milam County is sponsoring a free tire clean up on Saturday, June 12. Simply drop your old tires off at the Milam County Precinct Three headquarters located at 107 N. FM 487 in Rockdale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and we will haul them off. They will accept automobile tires, farm implement tires and tractor tires. They will not accept truck tires nor is this available to commercial establishments or those who have been cited for Health and Safety Code violations. This is available through a grant from our Central Texas Council of Government.

 

Alcoa Retirees

Rockdale ALCOA Retirees will hold a meeting on Thursday, June 10. The meeting will be held at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall (formally known as the VFW Hall ). Doors open at 5 p.m. A long, boring meeting begins at 5:45 p.m. A fried catfish meal will be served. Donations towards hall rental will be accepted.

 

Light it Up Fundraiser

Milano Athletic Association will host its Light It Up Fundraiser from 6-7:30 p.m. on June 18. Dine-in and to go plates at Milano HS cafeteria. BBQ chicken dinner plates including BBQ chicken, beans, potato salad and dessert for $12 donation per plate. Proceeds will be used to assist in purchasing lights for the baseball field.

 

Juneteenth Celebration

Cameron’s Juneteenth Celebration will be held June 19 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sponsored by O.J Thomas Alumni and the Juneteenth Celebration Committee. Parade at 10 a.m. All other activities at the 12th Street Park including Music-Creative Arts-Food Trucks-Games. Farm Bureau Youth Meeting

The Disrict YF&R Texas Farm Bureau meeting will be held on June 19 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Putters & Gutters, 2341 US 281 in Lampasas. Bowlinn, mini golf and food. Are you age 18-35 an interested in agriculture? Join in. RSVP by June 11 to tvervor@txfb.org or call (512) 496-3905.

 

Liberty Picnic

The annual Liberty Picnic and Liberty Community Cemetery Association will be held July 4. Please bring your favorite picnic lunch and join everyone for a day of fun and visiting with friends and relatives. The meeting starts at 11 a.m. in the Liberty Church with the picnic starting at noon. If you are unable to attend, please mail your contribution for the care of the cemetery to Bill Follis, 3370 County Road 237, Cameron, TX 76520.

 

July 4th Celebration

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is making plans for the Milam County July 4th Fireworks Celebration on Sunday, July 4, at Fair Park in Rockdale. The countywide community is invited to this free event which will include food vendors and a spectacular fireworks display at dark.  The Chamber is seeking local businesses to host games for the kids to enjoy.  Kids can enjoy unlimited play for a $5 donation (which also gets them a festive red, white and blue glow in the dark bracelet). Businesses should contact the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce at info@rockdalechamber.com to sponsor this year’s festivities. It’s a great way to market your business to a countywide audience and show your support of this community affair.

 

Cameron Food Truck Fly-In 

Cameron Municipal Airport will host a Food Truck Fly-In on the first Saturday in June and July from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Old Town Cameron Railroad Museum

The Milam County Railroad Museum and Old Town Cameron will be kicking off new hours for our guests. Beginning in June, summer hours will be 10-4 Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  We also want to invite all of our Jr. Engineers to join us every Saturday from 10 until 12 to help us run the trains on the Old Town Cameron model and our training layout.  Junior Engineers have been given a special Old Town Cameron pin.  You must wear your pin when you attend.  If you are between the age of 8 and 18, come to the Railroad Museum for a short training course so you can join the fun.  We will be organizing a Junior Engineer Train Club this summer too!  Stay tuned.
