Gause students celebrate 100th day of school

A group of us enjoyed playing dominoes Sunday evening at the home of Wanda and Alfred Coats. We always have a great time – win or lose! Goodness, don’t know the reason but the gravel trucks are busy passing our house this morning. And they are always in a hurry. Tuesday of this week was the 100th day of school according to the school calendar. Lots of !!!! marks beside that. Don’t know what that means, maybe the teachers are now counting the days until summer vacation. On Jan. 31 there will be a blood drive. If you can give blood, check with the school about the time. That is this Thursday. You may not read this column by then though. Looks as if there are a number of activities taking place at the Gause School from now until the time school is dismissed for the summer vacation and that includes STAAR testing beginning in April. Feb. 5 there will be a basketball game in Westphalia beginning at 5 p.m. The on Feb. 11 there will be a basketball game here against Cornerstone at 5 p.m. Lots of things going on. The last day of school is May 22, which will be Awards Day and an early release, but the teachers have to go back for Staff Development on May 23.
