McGregor dashes Yoe playoff hopes

The Cameron Yoemen saw their 2020 season end Friday night on an intercepted pass in the end zone in the closing seconds of the game against McGregor.

Back-up quarterback Ryan Muniz lead the Yoemen to two second half touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to bring the Yoemen from behind. They lost 24-16.

The Yoemen (4-5, 2-4) needed the win in the season finale to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Chad Lorenz scored on two 24-yard runs to give the Bulldogs (5-4, 3-2) a 14-0 lead with 1:59 left in the second quarter, and an interception and long return set up Veandre McDaniel to score on a 13-yard run with 41 seconds left before halftime.

That put McGregor up 21-0 at the half.

McGregor kicked a field goal in the third quarter to make the score 24-0 at the 5:47 mark.

The Yoemen set up a rally on a 71-yard touchdown pass from Muniz to ZaKorien Spikes followed by the two-point conversion by Keshon Johnson.

They also added another touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Johnson. Muniz connected on 2-point conversion pass to Jaidyn Sanchez.

But it wasn’t enough as Muniz threw the interception to end the game 24-16.
