The Cameron Lady Yoe Softball team participated in a tournament that was hosted by Salado over the weekend. The Lady Yoe came out of the tournament winning five of the six games they played.

Cameron played two games on Thursday, the first game against the Lady Jaguars of Austin LBJ. The Lady Yoe shut out LBJ 17-0 in a game that lasted two and a half innings. Cameron scored a whopping 11 runs in the first inning. They came back out in the second inning and piled on with six more runs, including a three run inside the park home run by Zayda Spillers. Navaeh Billingsley was outstanding on the mound, pitching all three innings and allowed no runs on no hits and one walk, striking out four.

The second game was against the Bastrop Lady Bears, and Cameron shut them out as well, winning 11-0. The scoring for the Lady Yoe started in the second inning, where they scored two runs by an RBI single from Lauren Harris and an RBI groundout by Lindsay Talafuse. Cameron added on in the third inning with four more runs to make it a 6-0 lead. The Lady Yoe collected five more runs in the fourth inning. The offensive barrage by the Lady Yoe was led by Mia Wimmer, Kenzie Lara, Lauren Harris, and Lindsay Talafuse, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Zayda Spillers didn’t allow a single run against Bastrop, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Cameron to the 11-0 victory. She allowed no runs on one hit over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Cameron totaled 12 hits. Spillers, Wimmer, and Harris each collected multiple hits for the team. Spillers went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Yoe in hits. Cameron was also fleet of feet on the field and stole six bases during the game as two players (Harris and Billingsley) stole more than one.

The Lady Yoe then played two games on Friday, the first was against the East View Lady Patriots. Cameron got out to a six-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 6-5 victory over East View. The Lady Yoe earned the victory despite allowing East View to score four runs in the fifth inning to make the score 6-4.

Cameron got things started in the first inning when Zayda Spillers singled to center field, scoring the first of two runs in the inning. The second run came on an RBI single by Ka’Sara Brooks. The Lady Yoe scored three runs in the second inning. Mia Wimmer, Spillers, and Ka’Sara Brooks all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
