Sam Joseph Lopez

Sam Joseph Lopez, 62, of Cameron, died Friday, February 12, 2021, in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, February 22, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.  Burial will follow in the Hernandez Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Lopez was born in Cameron to Elizabeth Ann Lopez on March 27, 1958. He had worked for and retired from D & L Water Service.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Corona, Jr. and Rigo Berto  and by step-mother Rosa Corona.  

He is survived by: Sons, Nico Vargas of Cameron; Stepsons, Lonnie Hemphill, Jr. of Cameron and ​Devin Hemphill of Cameron; Stepdaughter​, Akeshia Hemphill of Cameron; Brothers​, Aaron Valdez of Cameron, ​Chris Valdez of Cameron, Rigo Valdez, Jr. of Cameron; Sisters​, Dora Valdez of Killeen, Diana Martinez of Cameron; one grandchild; Numerous nieces and nephews.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
