EVELYN JOYCE BOTTS OCT. 2, 1931 - JAN. 1, 2026

Evelyn Joyce Botts, 94, of Cameron, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in a Temple hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. Visitation was held prior to the service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Botts was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Sandoval, Texas, to Benjamin Franklin and Mary Annie (Kelm) Schirpik. She was a retired waitress and nurse and a member of Battetown Baptist Church. She married Richard Keith Botts in 1947; he preceded her in death in 2002.

She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Rosalind Jones and Lynette Jochec; a brother, Larry Schirpik; and a sister, Pauline Render.

Survivors include one son, Richard Botts and wife Talma of Temple; daughters, Cheryl Dickerson of Luling, Denise Kopriva and husband Robert of Temple, and Yvonne Cunnick of Cameron; one brother, Franklin Schirpik of Marble Falls; sisters, Bennie Chambers of Georgetown and Artie Stockton of Dripping Springs; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
