The Young Yoemen are now set to play their home opener on Thursday.  Groesbeck only has two teams compared to the Yoemen’s four.  The 7th B and 8th B will scrimmage each other starting at 4:30 p.m.  The 7th grade A game is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. with the 8th A to follow shortly thereafter.

Routes to Bay City

For those that are making the long trek down to Southeast Texas on Friday, there are a few viable routes that you can take.  The first, which will be The Cameron Herald’s preferred route, will take you down south on Highway 77 to La Grange.  You will get onto highway 71 before turning left on FM 961 before you get into El Campo.  This will lead you to Wharton where you will turn right to get onto Highway 60.  This will lead you into Bay City, where you will take another left onto 12th street.  12th street will take you right to the stadium.

A second option is to get onto Highway 36 through Caldwell, Brenham, Bellville, Sealy and then into Wallis.  You will then turn right onto Highway 60.  This will take you all the way through Wharton and into Bay City where you would take a left onto 12th street.

In the JV girls division, Ana Bowman improved her time by over a minute from last week with a 72nd place finish and a time of 19:40.

“She has improved so much and is probably our toughest runner,” said Yoe head cross country coach Dale Deen.   “Not our fastest, but our toughest. She showed the kind of courage we admire and I lifted her up as an example for rest of team.”

The boys’ team did have two compete with Robbie Pfiel (32nd, 22:36) and Antonio Jiminez (54th, 26:38) representing the Yoemen in the JV division.
