Volunteer Fire Department receives checks from Milam County Emergency Management

All the Volunteer Fire Departments in Milam County started the year with a busy winter fire season. To show appreciation for the tireless work of these volunteer firefighters who kept the area safe from fires and aided people in the county during their time of need, Milam County Emergency Management passed out the annual fuel and mutual aid checks during the April meeting of the Milam County Fire Chief Association.

Legislation would authorize optional revenue sharing from groundwater export fees

A local bill filed in the Texas Legislature would authorize the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District to share a portion of revenue collected from groundwater export fees with Burleson and Milam County offices. The legislation would apply only to this District and does not alter existing permit ting rules, regulatory authority, or conservation standards. The District’s role remains unchanged – to manage groundwater resources for long-term sustainability through planning, permitting, monitoring, and public engagement. Any potential revenue sharing would be considered only within the context of this mission.
