Storms rip through area last week
Severe storms and tornadoes ripped through Central Texas on Monday.
Multiple tornadoes are thought to have touched down, including several in Central Texas.
Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore reported damage in the 5000 block of FM 1915, the 6000 block of FM 1916, and the 6000 block of FM 908. Damage included a barn, a residence, metal buildings, and a roof that was blown off. There were also multiple reports of power lines down.
Much of Thorndale was without power this morning because of downed lines.
Clore indicated that several roads were closed to traffic on Tuesday morning. Those closures included CR 442, CR 445, and FM 486 at Brushy Creek.
The National Weather Service has since confirmed a tornado touched down in southern Milam County. Funnel clouds were also spotted near Rosebud.
Williamson County also suffered multiple reports of tornadoes. The City of Taylor confirmed damage from a tornado that touched down in the northwest part of the city. Damage included downed power lines major damage to buildings and other structures near Chandler Road, CR 101, and Cotton Row Lane.
That tornado and storm cell also struck Circleville and headed for Granger Lake and the Granger area.
There were no injuries reported for Central Texas.
Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said there were a number of homes and buildings that suffered damage or were destroyed in the storms.
A tornado is also thought to have touched down in Round Rock near the intersection of I-35 and TX 45, causing damage in that area. A tornado was also seen near the Kalahari Resort along US 79 later on, the same one thought to have run through Hutto, Taylor, and toward Granger.
The National Weather Service Office in Fort Worth on Tuesday said 11 areas of tornado damage have now been confirmed in their area. The group said they have even more reports to conduct and complete throughout this week.
Officials have also confirmed an EF1 tornado near Saxon Road in Bryan and a pair of EF0 tornadoes in the Snook area. Preliminary surveys have also confirmed a tornado in Southern Bell County, which was an EF1, though this is thought to be a continuation of the tornado that began in the Round Rock area of Williamson County. A separate NWS office is working that incident.
Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said Tuesday at least 1,000 homes were damaged or destroyed by the storms. He encourages residents to document any and all damage to their homes and businesses at damage.tdem.texas.gov.
