Snow blankets Central Texas

Snow has been falling across Central Texas for much of Sunday.

Milam County Sheriff Chris White urges everyone to stay home and stay safe.

"Roadways in and around MIlam County have become increasingly treacherous with the accumulated snowfall," he said. "Temperatures have held steady all morning and thru now at just above freezing. At this rate - when temperatures drop below freezing tonight we will see a much more serious and hazardous situation with travel.  Not only will bridges ice over but there will likely be slick patches of ice throughout county roadways."

He asks that everyone please stay home unless travel is absolutely necessary- otherwise leave early enough to drive slow and let off the gas if you start to slide.

"My deputies will be staged throughout the county to assist as needed," White said.
