North and Central Texas expecting winter storm this weekend

A strong winter storm system will track across Texas late Saturday and into Sunday.

The National Weather Service is warning of widespread precipitation will form within this storm system, transitioning from rain to snow across much of the region on Sunday. While there remains some uncertainty on the exact snowfall amounts that can be expected, and where the heaviest snow amounts will occur, accumulating snowfall appears likely for portions of North and Central Texas beginning late Saturday night and continuing through the day Sunday.

Counties included in the winter storm warning are: Young, Jack, Stephens, Palo Pinto, Parker, Eastland, Hood, Somervell, Johnson, Henderson, Comanche, Mills, Hamilton, Bosque, Hill, Navarro, Freestone, Anderson, Lampasas, Coryell, Bell, McLennan, Falls, Limestone, Leon, Milam and Robertson.

 

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT:

* WHAT. - Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches possible. Isolated amounts of up to 6 inches.

* WHERE - Portions of North and Central Texas.

* WHEN - From Saturday evening through late Sunday night.

* IMPACTS - Travel could be very difficult.
