Judge to address county this afternoon

Milam County Judge Steve Young reported five new cases of COVID-19 in Milam County early this morning.
“We now have 78 confirmed cases, 30 of which have occurred in the last 8 days, since June 16, 2020,” Young said. “25 active cases, health department is monitoring 69 individuals and has monitored 245 individuals since March 20, 2020. One of the five cases reported today is in ICU and thus we now have 3 individuals in a hospital.”
Young will address the county at 1 p.m. on Facebook Live on the Moving Milam Forward page. He is expected to address face coverings in public as well as update on the annex move and urgent care in the county.
“There is simply no end in site to the increase in confirmed cases,” he said. “I will take some action tomorrow that may help some, but this is truly a pandemic. I met with the superintendents Monday and I hate to think what may happen once school starts. We must continue to get the word out through every medium about the importance of social distancing, masks and personal hygiene.”
