DA’s Tree of Angels returns for 2020

The Milam County & District Attorney’s Office is sponsoring the 22nd Annual Tree of Angels.

The tree is decorated with angel ornaments bearing the tag of the victim and/or their family on display at the Milam County Museum thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers.

The Tree of Angels program is celebrated each year across Texas and enables survivors of violent crime and victims’ families to place an angel ornament on a special Christmas tree in support of or in memory of their loved one.  This tradition was started in 1991 in hopes that the blessings of the holiday season would comfort the victims and their families during this difficult time.

Members of the armed services will also be remembered and honored. All military families are invited to place an angel on the tree in honor of or in remembrance of their loved one.

We regret there will be no live service or reception this year due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. However, there is a virtual service provided on demand though the following sites: treeofangels.org and peopleagainstviolentcrime.org

Participants may bring an angel ornament tagged with the first and last name of the person to be remembered or honored and place it on the Tree of Angels from Dec. 3  through Jan. 6 at the Milam County Museum.

The Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you are not able to visit the museum and would like an angel placed on the Tree of Angels in honor or in memory of your loved one, contact Susan DeLaRosa, Milam County District Attorney’s Office Crime Victim Coordinator, at (254) 697-7013 or send an email to sdelarosa@milamcounty.net for more information.
