COVID UPDATE: Third death recorded from virus in Milam County

Milam County has recorded its third death from COVID-19.

County Judge Steve Young announced this morning that individual had been tested about a week ago and had gone home. The person’s symptoms became worse and the person died at home earlier today, before going to a hospital. This brings the county death toll to three.

There were three new confirmed cases yesterday, up five to a total of 307 cases total. There are currently 42 active cases in the county, down two from yesterday.

The County Health Department is monitoring 56 people and there are currently four people hospitalized with one of those in serious condition.

Texas: Confirmed cases 403,407 up 9,042. This is a 2.3 percent increase in one day.  Texas surpassed New York in the number of confirmed cases.  The positivity rate is still in excess of 12 percet.  At the end of May the positivity rate was about 4 percent. Deaths 6,190 up 313.  Worst day (highest one day death toll) since the beginning of the pandemic.

 United States: Confirmed cases – 4,491,773 up 65,492. Deaths -152,624 up 1,250.  This is the highest official death toll in the world.
