ART WANTED! 

Cameron’s second ArtWalk is happening in conjunction with the 2022 Steak Stein and Wine Festival. Photography and digital artists are invited to participate. If you or someone you know is interested in this one day event, contact Robert Bird at (530) 391-3259 or rwbirdhaus@gmail.com

This is a Chamber sponsored event. Chamber vendor applications are required for ArtWalk participants. ArtWalk will take a 20 percent commission on sales in lieu of the vendor fee.

 

Davilla Fall Fest

The Annual Davilla Community Fall Fest will be on Oct. 1, from 5-9 p.m. at 20803 North FM 487 in Davilla. Fun and games, food and goodies for all. Silent auction and raffle with gift cards, Texas flag, gift baskets, throw quilt and much more. Custom fireworks display.

 

Rice Cemetery 

Association

Rice Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck. The meeting will be held at the cemetery. Community Wide 

Garage Sale

A Community Wide Garage Sale is set for Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Williams Event Center, 408 S. Columbus Avenue in Cameron. Indoor booths 1/$20 or 2/$30. Outdoor booths $10. Bake sale, photo booth, facepainting, crafts and entertainment. Reserve at spot online at milamcommunitytheater.com.

 

Minerva Homecoming

The Annual Minerva Homecoming will be held for the first time in three years on Sunday, Oct. 2. Please come visit old friends and meet your neighbors for a noon covered dish meal at the Minerva Community Center, 378 CR 232 Loop.  There will be a very brief Minerva-Midway Cemetery Meeting followed by the meal.  Bring photos and memories to share.  For more information contact Deborah Dean at (512) 429-1440 or Susan Dean at (512) 429-1445.  You can also email dean76567@yahoo.com.

 

National Night Out

National Night Out festivities are set for Oct. 4 at the Cameron Police Department from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Come and join in with Cameron PD and several vendors. Free food and drinks. At the Police Department, 605 W. 4th Street.

 

Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch is a monthly fellowship noon meal hosted by First United Methodist Church of Cameron, held on the First Thursday in Family life Center, from 12-1 p.m.  Anyone in the community is welcome to attend.  Each month there is a speaker who shares information about the community. The main dish is furnished by FUMC, those who are able are asked to bring a food dish to share.  The next meeting will be Oct. 6. Our speaker will be Robert Kirkpatrick from Milam County Health Department.  He Will share information about programs for the county. The Milam County Retired School Personal Association will be joining us for lunch. If you come at 11:30 and have your Medicare Card, you will be able to get your free Flu Shot.  CVS Pharmacy of Cameron will be on hand to give the vaccine. 2012 State 

Championship Reunion

The Cameron Yoemen 2012 State Championship 10-year Reunion will be held on Oct. 7 at the Homecoming Game. 2012 team will get free entry to the game. Team introduction at 7:05 p.m. Post Game Tailgate at Circle S BBQ. Reception in the weight room during the fourth quarter for players and family.

 

50-year Reunion

Yoe High Class of 1972 will hold their 50th Reunion on Oct. 7 at the Central Avenue Bistro at 5 p.m.

 

Minerva VFD 

Fundraiser

Minerva Volunteer Fire Department will host a fundraiser and dedication of the firehouse addition on Oct. 8 from 4-8 p.m. Pancake supper and silent auction. For more information contact any Minerva firefighter. Crystal Denman is in charge of the silent auction.

 

Rummage Sale

St. Monica’s Religious Education and Youth Ministry Annual Rummage Sale is Oct. 6-8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Simon George Hall, 401 S. Karnes in Cameron. Tools, clothing, toys and furniture for sale.

 

Spaghetti Supper

The Cameron Rotary Club will hold its annual Spaghetti Supper on Friday, Oct. 7, from 5-7 p.m. at the Yoe High Cafeteria. Cost is $10 per plate. For tickets go to Facebook/CameronRotaryClub or talk with any Rotary member. You can eat in, drive thru or pick it up to go.

 

Turkey and Dressing Fundraiser

The Thorndale Ladies Firemen Auxiliary will host a Turkey and Dressing fundraiser dinner on Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Thorndale Firemen’s Hall.  Serving will begin at 11 a.m. - drive thru or dine in. Plates will be $12 each with desserts available for a free will offering. 

 

Fall Fajita Drive-thru

St. Monica’s Catholic Church Pastoral Council will hold its Fall Fajita Drive-thru on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. until sold out. Chicken fajita plates with the trimmings for $10. Simon & George Hall, 401 South Karnes in Cameron.

 

Pancake Supper

Free Pancake Supper at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall every last Thursday of the month from 5:30-7 p.m. Everybody is welcome. Come share the food and God’s love.

 

Story Time

Wednesday morning story time at the Cameron Public Library is at 10:30 on Wednesday mornings.  Stories, crafts, and play time with Ms. Elena. Call the library at (254) 697-2401 if you have questions.

Blessings From God Food pantry

The distribution dates for the Blessings From God Food Pantry are:  Nov. 23 from 8-9:30 a.m.; Dec. 7 and 21 from 8-9:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 1300 N. Austin in Cameron. They are still accepting donations, please call Franklin Glaser at (254) 455-0380 to donate. Mobile pantry will be at The Yards of Cameron every third Wednesday of the month. 

 

 

Old Town Cameron Railroad Museum

The Milam County Railroad Museum home of the 1940’s Old Town Cameron model continues to be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  However, they are monitoring the Coronavirus cases in Milam County and the surrounding counties.  They ask that everyone that can, get vaccinated so they can remain open along with other businesses in our community.  The Railroad Museum is one of Milam County’s most popular tourist venues.  They have been hosting families from all over Texas and the United States this summer.
