CISD to announce final plans for school year July 28

Cameron ISD will release its finalized plans for the 2020-21 school year on July 28.

CISD Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles announced on Monday that he has submitted a detailed, comprehensive draft for a return to school to his administrative team.

“Cameron ISD’s top priority is the health and safety of its students and staff members,” Sprinkles said in a press release. “As a result, the district has been working diligently to develop a quality back to school plan that will enable us to provide a healthy and safe learning environment and ensure that all students are challenged with a rigorous world class academic experience.”

The district has posted several documents on its Facebook pages that give a brief overview of plans.

The comprehensive plan will include health and safety protocols, instructional delivery methods, social/emotional/mental health protocols, and parent communication protocols.

The CISD Board of Trustees heard from Assistant Superintendent Mistie Dakroub during its meeting on July 13 about those plans.

The district is asking parents and guardians to go to the CISD website to fill out a survey about what they feel they want to do with their child in the fall as well as access to Internet and technology. You can find that survey at https://bit.ly/Back2SchoolYOE

Dakroub said parents would have a choice for sending their children to school or keeping them home and working virtually this fall. Classes will begin on Aug. 19 for Cameron ISD. Parents are asked to go take the survey by Aug. 4.

“I would like to thank you for your patience during this time,” Sprinkles said. “I know that many of you may have some anxiety about your students returning to their respective campuses this fall. I would like for you to know that the teachers, staff, administrators and board of trustees truly view each and every students as their very own. We are committed to making 2020-21 an excellent educational experience for all students.”
