About Claiming Social Security Early and Investing It
Recently, when it comes to the reports of new buildings, there has been a lot of talking but not much listening – or reading. In the last few months, both on the radio and in the newspaper, I have discussed the three buildings committees we have created and the reason for the committees. Simply put, we are a growing county that has an increased need for infrastructure and as part of that we must take a look at our existing buildings, identify the needs of the future, and then determine what we need to do to address those needs. So, at my request, which the commissioners agreed with and are participating in, building committees were created to look at how to address three main projects; jail expansion, a new courthouse, and a new south county annex.
It is not too early to begin thinking about city elections in Cameron, which will take place Saturday, May 2. This year, the officials up for election will be Council Members Ward 2, currently Tommy Harris, Ward 4,currently Jimmy Pratt, and Mayor Nathan Fuchs.
Ben Milam Elementary students recently competed in University Interscholastic League (UIL) academic events, earning multiple individual and team awards under the guidance of their coaches Adriana Moreno, Tabitha Banda, Margory Ortiz, Pam Green and Alyssa Pitts.
As with last week’s look at the candidates appearing on the March 3 primary ballot for county positions, this week shifts to the broader picture: who will appear on the ballot for state, district, and area races in both primaries. To streamline coverage, we will focus only on contested races, with a more indepth look at the primary winners—who will advance to the November ballot— coming later.
