Mary Ruzicka

Mary Ruzicka, 101, of Temple and formerly of Buckholts, died Friday, Dec. 11, in a Temple nursing facility.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 14, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial followed in the Corinth Cemetery.
Mrs. Ruzicka, a homemaker, was born Jan. 3, 1914 in the Clarkson community of Milam County to Vojtek and Marie (Plavec) Svoboda. She married J D Ruzicka and he preceded her in death in 2010. She was a member of the Buckholts Brethren Church.
She was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Torrey Ruzicka and by two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son Jack Ruzicka of Temple; daughters Mary Frances Eastwood of New Braunfels and Debra Marie Klabuhn of San Antonio; sister Milada Doyle of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron was in charge of arrangements.

Imogene Belt Willie

Imogene Belt Willie of Cameron died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015.
The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 14 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. A private family memorial and interment will be held at a later date.
Imogene was born in Cameron to William Arthur and Alice Rachel (Stewart) Belt. She graduated from Milano High School. She lived all of her life in the Milam County area. She was a homemaker, farmer and rancher.
Imogene is the last surviving sibling of six Belt children.
She is survived by daughters Jeannine Willie Dohnalik and husband James of Cameron, Marilyn Willie of Cameron, Denise Willie Russell and husband James of Canyon; sons Paul Willie and wife Margaret of Belton; Daniel Willie of Cameron; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Cameron ISD Scholarship Foundation.

Billy Floyd Dodson

Billy Floyd Dodson

Billy Floyd Dodson, 79, of Lexington, formerly of Cameron, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at a Temple hospital.
A memorial service for Mr. Dodson is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home, with O. E. Davidson officiating.
Mr. Dodson was born Aug. 9, 1936 to Floyd Bentley and Jewel Adcock Dodson. He is a 1954 graduate of C. H. Yoe High School and served in the United States Army. Mr. Dodson is retired from Alcoa after being employed there for many years. He was a member of Cameron Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Dodson of Lexington; one son, Shane Dodson of Pasadena; and two daughters, Danica Lara of Cameron and Velvet Dodson of Temple. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jean Elizabeth Ferrow

Jean Elizabeth Ferrow, 68, of Cameron died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in a Temple hospital.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Cameron with Rev. Johnny Melton officiating. 
Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.  Visitation and viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron
Ms. Ferrow was born June 2, 1947 in Branchville to J.T. Wright and Jo Ethel Melton.  She was preceded in death by her son Dennis Ferrow, Jr. 
She is survived by her son Emory Melton of Cameron; sisters Helen Robinson of Hearne, Debra Scott of Cameron and Linda Cooke of Cameron; and numerous nieces and nephews

Doris Marie Fuchs

Doris Marie Fuchs

Doris Marie Fuchs, 84, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro.  Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Michael Nemec officiating.  Burial will follow at Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts.  

Doris was born July 28, 1931 in Bell County to Harvey Alfred and LaVonia (Coley) Finney.  She was a graduate of Rogers High School and attended Austin Business College.  On Nov. 20, 1949, Doris was united in marriage to Ernest F. Fuchs.  She worked at the ASCS office in Cameron as a secretary and at Calvert ISD.  The couple moved to Hillsboro, where they owned the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store.  Doris also worked as a teacher’s aide in Hillsboro ISD.  She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, working in the yard, growing flowers, playing dominos, and looking after her grandchildren.  She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Robert Lee “Bobby” Batte III,

Robert Lee “Bobby” Batte III, 95, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in a Cameron nursing facility. Services for Mr. Batte will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, December 12, at the Kathryn W Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home. Gene VanNoord will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mr. Batte was born October 8, 1920 to R. L, Jr.and Jewel Stribling Batte. He was a retired bookkeeper for the Cameron Livestock auction. Mr. Batte was a C. H. Yoe High School graduate. He served his country in World War II and was a member of Cameron Church of Christ.
Surviving are several cousins along with his church family and many friends of the community.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

William Franklin Goolsby

William Franklin Goolsby, 84, of Cameron, died Monday, Dec. 7, at his home. 
Graveside funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Marlow Cemetery. Family visitation will be Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.
Mr. Goolsby, a retired shop manager, was born Nov. 19, 1931 in Centerville to William Franklin and Leola (Manning) Goolsby.  He married Johna Brasher and she preceded him in death in 2004. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. 
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laurie Guettler. 
He is survived by sons Charles Goolsby of Bayou Vista and Ryan Goolsby of Marquez; daughters Ronda Janes of Brazoria, Debra Guettler of Cameron and Kennetha Mueck of Rockdale; brothers Charles Mobley of Bynum, Bud Patterson of Dallas and Neal Whitehead, Jr. of Dallas; sisters Bonnie Goolsby Szepessy of Corpus Christi and Frances Evans of Jewett; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Willie Jean Rose Wheeler

Mrs. Willie Jean Rose Wheeler, 83, of Maysfield, passed away Nov. 24 in Temple. Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Dec. 4, at Union Ridge Baptist Church in Maysfield.
Willie was born June 15, 1932 in Maysfield to R.D. Rose and Georgia Talley Rose. Willie was a daughter, wife, mother, friend and grandmother, among other roles.
She met and married Lockie Wheeler, better known as L.M. on April 21, 1950. To this union, three children were born.
She is survived by her children, Williams Joe Wheeler (Verdine) of Dallas, Billy Joe Wheeler (Ballarie) of Rosebud and Georgia Marie Wheeler (Wayne) of Temple; brother James Rose, five grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and friends.

Oscar Edwin 'Ed' Falke

Oscar Edwin “Ed” Falke

Oscar Edwin “Ed” Falke, 87, of the Detmold community died Friday, Nov. 20, 2015.
Edwin was born on June 10, 1928, in Thorndale, to Oscar G. and Minnie (Winkler) Falke.
On May 23, 1948, he married the beautiful Dorothy N. Richter of Detmold.
Edwin was a lifetime resident of the Thorndale community. He served in the United States Air Force Security Service with the 6982nd Radio Squadron during the Korean Conflict. Ed was a member of VFW Post No. 4009 and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Thorndale. After 39 years of service, he retired from TU Electric. Ed was also associated with the Taylor Soil and Water Conservation District and the Germania Farm Mutual Insurance Company. He was an associate member of the Thorndale Fire Department. A gentle and kind soul, Ed richly blessed the lives of his family and friends.
During his last years, his favorite moments were visiting with them on the family farm.
