Mardi Gras fundraiser tonight

The 6th annual Mardi Gras Bash will be held Friday, Feb. 2, at Simon George Hall, 401 S. Karnes, in Cameron. 

The event raises scholarship funds for the Chris Holcombe Memorial Scholarship.

The event, which will start at 6:30 p.m., will include a Cajun food dinner, auctions including a gun raffle and activities for the kids. Adult tickets are $10 and children under 18 are $5. 

Tickets may be purchased at the Milam County Extension Office in Cameron, the Rockdale Reporter, and Rodenbeck Farm & Ranch in Thorndale.

Check the Facebook page for Chris Holcombe to get a sneak peak at some of the items in this year’s auction which include: briskets from Thorndale Meat Market donated by Trey Felton; Standards Home Health Care is donating 10 44 Farms ribeyes and a fully-cooked 44 Farms brisket from Thorndale Meat Market, pecan baskets, “NorthGate” framed picture by Benjamin Knox; Bling Box gift certificates donated by the Bling Box, Prime Rib meal for 20 including sides donated by Jerry and Agnes Kostroun, box of Redemption cigars donated by Stephanie Varga at Black Label Trading Company, and lots of other items that can be viewed on the Facebook page at Facebook.com/cholcombememorial

Over the past five years a total of $65,000 in scholarships has been given to college students from Milam County as a result of the Mardi Gras event.
