Yoe non-district game listed as one of the best in the state

With the kickoff of the 2017 Texas High School football season just now weeks away, there is a lot of attention being shown towards the non-district schedules. These games are normally known as warm-ups for district play, but they also garner interest because of the matchups you won’t see in district or the playoffs.

This weekend, TexasHSFootball.com listed their top 13 3A games for 2017. All of Cameron’s non-district games should be challenging, but the game at China Spring on September 15 has a little more intrigue than the rest. As the online publication noted, “China Spring absolutely destroyed Yoe last season, 63-13”. However, it was also mentioned that Cameron should once again be in the title hunt and the Cougars could be a tad bit down from their state semifinal run.

Lexington managed to make the list twice, with the first being a home contest versus Mart to open the season. According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Lexington enters the season as the number one team in 3A division II, while Mart is the number one team in 2A division I. Mart edged out Lexington last year at home, 22-20.

The Eagles got a second game mentioned with a road battle at Rockdale on September 15. Rockdale, which picked up a 62-35 win in this game last year, has been ranked inside the top 10 of multiple lists.

Other games mentioned: Sept 1: Monahans @ Wall, Mineola @ Van; Sept. 8: Pottsboro Vs. Gunter, Wall Vs. Cisco, Elysian Fields Vs. Winona; Sept. 15: Boling @ Hallettsville; Sept. 22: Wall Vs. Eastland, Giddings Vs. Yoakum, Newton Vs. Bridge City; Sept. 29: Harmony Vs. White Oak.
