JANICE LEE HILL

Janice Lee Hill, age 88, of Temple passed from this life surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital. She was born on October 12, 1936, in Gonzales, TX, to parents Arthur Mondrick and Augustine (Barrow) Meads.

Janice grew up in Hearne, TX, where she would graduate high school in 1956. Shortly after high school, Janice would marry the love of her life, J L Hill on August 25, 1956, in Hearne. Janice worked for Cameron Compress Company for fourteen years and eventually retired in 1994. In 2014 Janice and J L Hill would move to Temple to be closer to family, until J L sadly passed away in 2016. Janice would go on to participate in many hobbies to keep herself busy, crocheting, arts and crafts, and painting ceramics.

Janice loved bird houses and light houses. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, and designing recipe books for her family and friends.

Those who loved her will forever cherish the wonderful memories and time spent with her. She will be deeply missed.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband J L Hill, son Douglas Hill, one brother, and one sister.

Janice leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Debora Packard and husband Tim of San Antonio, Donna Smith and husband Tom of Temple, nine grandchildren: Ashleigh Packard and husband Stewart Minor, James Packard, LouAnn Smith, Katlyn Llamas and husband Brian, Allisyn Watson, Wendi Mattingly, Carri Villarreal, Tammi Sullivan, and Brian Hill, as well as three great-grandchildren: Tyler, James, and Ellie.

Graveside services will be held at Bryan City Cemetery in Bryan on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11 o’clock a.m. The family will be accepting visitors at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 5 o’clock p.m. to 8 o’clock p.m.
