Apache Pass will host the Central Texas Hunting and Outdoor Expo this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21-22.
This year’s event will feature a Battle of the Bands competition and the barbecue cook-off - both scheduled to begin Friday night at 6 p.m. Gates open at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Sponsored by the Thorndale and Rockdale Chambers of Commerce, the event will feature a multitude of food and retail vendors from local areas and around the state, as well as a Civil War Reenactment, a skeet shooting and 3D Archery competition.
Among the many different demonstrations occurring throughout the weekend are petting zoos, fly-fishing lessons, rock climbing pony rides and a Wild West Regulator Show. In addition, there will be children’s activities and displays by the Texas Parks and Wildlife and Texas Master Naturalists.
Admission is $5 for participants ages 2 to 12 years and $10 for ages 13 and older; after 5 p.m. Saturday, admission will be $15 for the concert featuring the winner of the Battle of the Bands and the popular band, Little Texas.
