A record year for Warehouse of Horrors By Raymond Jordan The Milam County Crimestoppers had a record turnout at the 11th annual fundraiser “First Street Warehouse of Horrors” over the weekend. On Oct. 30, 635 visitors braved the frights followed by 816 people on Halloween night for a total of 1,451. Ticket sales amounted to $7,857, which included at least three “Scream Passes”, which are $100 donations that allowed groups of up to five to go in without waiting in line. “It was a bigger success than I was expecting,” Debbie Hatcher, Milam County Crimestoppers secretary treasurer said. Several rooms were remodeled and the maze-like pathway through the warehouse was redesigned to make foot traffic flow more easily. Milano resident, Deborah Kruse said the new layout and rooms were a definite improvement over past years. “That’s the best it’s ever been,” Kruse said. First time visitors also enjoyed Warehouse of Horrors and put it on par with those in larger sities. “It’s easily as good as the one’s in Austin,” said Jennifer Bailey of Round Rock. Friend Crystal Beard of Austin agreed. “It was awesome,” Beard said. “I was impressed with the length (of the maze).” Brent Davidson, Milam County Crimestoppers president, said he would like to thank all the visitors and helpers for their support in this fund raiser. “We want to send a special thank you to the following local businesses that donated food, drinks, and other supplies so we could feed all of our volunteers,” Davidson said. “From Cameron - Pizza Hut, Sonic, Brookshire Brother's, Circle S Barbecue, Taqueria Sanchez, Los Comales, Carrasco's Restaurant, Sunny Food Mart, Harlan's. From Rockdale - Mr. Gatti's, Wal-Mart, Brookshire Brother's, Sonic, Duchess Quick Stop Convenience Store and from Temple - Temple Bottling Company. Last but certainly not least we want to thank all the volunteers who helped make this year a record breaking success. We couldn't do this without you.”
