Area News Briefs Family Fun Night Benefits Thorndale Relay for Life Everyone is invited to enjoy a night of fun food and face painting at the Thorndale Relay for Life Family Game Night on March 29. The event, to be held at the Thorndale Firemen's Hall, will have meals consisting of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and desserts. Games such as Texas Hold ‘em, washers, ring toss and a dominoes tournament will also be held. A cake walk and face painting will be provided for the children. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. The Thorndale Relay for Life is May 2. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Rockdale Hospital District Board meets Monday The Rockdale Hospital District Board of Directors will meet at noon Monday, March 17, in the main dining room of the Richards Memorial Hospital District facility. Among the items on the agenda are consideration of forming a charitable foundation, action regarding an administrator/CEO and possible land acquisition. Rabies clinic set March 22 The Thorndale Theatre Arts Department is sponsoring a rabies clinic on Saturday, March 22, from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Thorndale pavilion in the park. Dr. Arlon Graef, DVM and his staff from Graef Veterinary Hospital of Taylor will be on hand at the pavilion to administer rabies shots and other shots for your cats and dogs. The rabies shots are only $5 and other shots are available. Participants are asked to use a leash on dogs and a carrier for cats. St. Paul Lutheran to host youth Concert The True Worship Ministry will present a Youth Concert on Wednesday, March 26. The youth concert will be hosted by the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All youth are welcome and encouraged to join the worship and fun of a youth night. Annual MARC RUN Set April 12 The seventh annual MARC Motorcycle Run benefiting the Milam Association of Retarded Citizens is set for April 12. All bikers are invited to join the run. Cost is $10 per bike or car (Cars are welcome). The run will begin at The Ranch in Rockdale with registration starting at 9:30 a.m. and the first bike out at 11 a.m. After starting at the Ranch, the run will proceed to Nat's in Milano, to the Longhorn in Cameron and on to Pancho and Lefty's in Hare. From there it is on to Brushy Creek Bar in Thorndale and then Charlie's in Lexington. Then it is back to The Ranch in Rockdale (last bike in at 4 p.m.) where organizers will be serving barbecue plates to those that participated in the ride. Also at 4 p.m., there will also be a bike show with trophies awarded. Entry fee is $5. A benefit auction begins at 5 p.m. Tee-shirts will be on sale for $15. This year the stops are also sponsors of the run. These businesses have made donations to be sponsors, along with many of other Milam County businesses and individuals.
